Frequently asked questions
How do I begin the process of ordering a commission piece?+
Use the enquiry form on the commissions page to organise a time to meet in person or digitally.
What happens after I order a commission piece?+
Your memories hold a very special place in your life, so Lois listens carefully to your thoughts and ideas, asking questions and making suggestions. She needs photographs or images as a basis for the piece. You discuss size and measurements of the area you plan to place the work. Then she produces a series of sketches for you to look at. The initial consultation is free.
How do I pay for the work?+
The cost is calculated using an amount per square inch. You are invoiced for half the payment before the work begins, and the final payment upon completion.
How long would it take before I receive the piece?+
Lois aims to finish within 2 to 3 months, although it depends on both the volume of commissions and the scale of your piece.
Do you have a refund policy?+
No. Working closely together during the project is intended to ensure you are delighted with the finished work.
Will the work be framed?+
Framing can be discussed and arranged with Lois, or you may prefer a local art specialist. Some watercolour paintings require a frame and mount. Watercolours can be mounted on a wooden cradle and varnished, in which case those items are included in the price. Acrylic or oil paintings are usually left on canvas with no frame, unless on special papers. This is discussed and itemised in writing before work begins.
How does delivery work?+
If you live within a reasonable radius of Lois's workspace, she can deliver in person. Otherwise work can be sent by post.
How can I contact you?+
